Eek! The Cat Presents:

Tim Curry - Fearless

I saw Tim Curry back in the late '70's in Atlanta, and it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to!! This is prolly his definitive (and best) album, and I believe it's the only one that had a hot with "I Do The Rock." I was SO bummed out when he gave up his musical career, though he does still do audio books with that wonderful voice of his!

Anyway, this album is nearly impossible to find nowadays, and, while it's only at 192K, it still is some of the best music around! Oh, and "I Do The Rock" is sort of a time capsule, if you will, of what was happening in the world at the time. Linda Ronstadt was dating the governor of California, Jerry Brown, and O.J. Simpson was still a "good guy!"

Track Listing:

Tim Curry - Fearless - 192K

01 - Tim Curry - Right on the Money
02 - Tim Curry - Hide This Face
03 - Tim Curry - I Do the Rock

Eek! The Cat Presents:

Alice Cooper - Killer

Oh yeah! This was the first LP that I heard by Alice. Dead Babies was just macabre enough to appeal to a 17-year-old kid, and I had just read "Lord of the Flies" which, for some reason, fit into the Halo Of Flies scenario, even though it was about a hired gunfighter, and it had absolutely nothing to do with William Golding's book!

Anyway, I personally feel that Killer is Alice Cooper's masterpiece. Yes, he wrote a LOT of other great songs and put out many great albums, but none really reached the thematic heights of Killer. BUT, that is merely my own opinion, and you know what they say about those! :>}

That being said, I give you ... "Killer." (in 320K)

Track Listing:

Alice Cooper - Killer - 320K

01 - Under My Wheels
02 - Be My Lover
03 - Halo of Flies
04 - Desperado
05 - You Drive Me Nervous
06 - Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
07 - Dead Babies
08 - Killer

Eek! The Cat Presents:

Vanilla Fudge - Vanilla Fudge

I was 14 years old when I first heard this album. My wife and I listened to it all the way through a couple of days ago and enjoyed it every bit as much as when I first heard it. The vocals are huge and complex and tasty. Vanilla Fudge's musicianship and musical arrangement of cover tunes are as though they wrote them - they make them their own.

Most of the guys went on to play with other top tier musicians and groups such as Beck, Bogart and Appice, Cactus, etc.

Track Listing:

Vanilla Fudge - Vanilla Fudge - 192K

01 - Ticket To Ride
02 - People Get Ready
02 - You Keep Me Hanging On
03 - She's Not There
04 - Bang Bang
05 - Illusions Of My Childhood Pt. 1 You Keep Me Hangin' On lllusions Of My Childhood Pt. 2
06 - Take Me For A Little While Illusions Of My Childhood - Pt.3
07 - Eleanor Rigby

Eek! The Cat Presents:

Zephyr - Zephyr

I first saw these guys (and girl) when they opened up for Joe Cocker's last concert of his "Mad Dogs And Englishmen" tour in 1970. They were ultra tight and HEAVY!! Tommy Bolin, who later played with Deep Purple before his untimely death, did a guitar/percussion solo using an old fashioned, tape driven Echo-Plex that blew this 15 year old kid AWAY! And Candy Givens, the singer, was a heck of a showman, even though her voice can be a little ... grating at times. But their version of St. James Infirmary and Cross The River make this whole album worth listening to.

Presented in 320K.

Track Listing:

Zephyr - Zephyr - 320K

01-Sail On
02-Sun's A -Risin'
03-Raindrops
04- Boom-Ba-Boom - Somebody Listen
05-Cross The River
06-St. James Infirmary
07-Huna Buna
08-Hard Chargin' Woman

Eek! The Cat Presents:

It's A Beautiful Day - It's A Beautiful Day

If you don't have this album in your collection already, shame on you! :>} This is one of those Must Have type albums. It's beautiful, some is grungy heavy, and one song was even ripped off by Deep Purple, who were subsequently legally forced to changed the keyboard intro melody!

Oh yeah! Deep Purple's Child In Time (the keyboard intro), from In Rock, is note for note the same as It's A Beautiful Day's Bombay Calling. If you listen to later Deep Purple live recordings, like Made In Japan, you'll notice that the keyboard intro is completely different!

David and Linda LaFlame were a litigious couple of folks anyway. When they broke up, it was years before David won the legal rights to perform White Bird and other stuff.

Speaking of White Bird, I first heard this song in early 1970 on the radio in Ft. Supply, Oklahoma no less! I ran right out and bought the album (which, for a 16 year old was a good chunk of change). As soon as I got home, I fired up the incense, and then a big fat doober (yeah, I smoked the stuff back then), and just let the album take me places. It is definitely a dreamer's album! So here it is, in 192K.

Track Listing:

It's A Beautiful Day - It's A Beautiful Day - 192K

01 - White Bird
02 - Hot Summer Day
03 - Wasted Union Blues
04 - Girl With No Eyes
05 - Bombay Calling
06 - Bulgaria
07 - Time Is

Eek The Cat Presents:

Nektar - Remember The Future

Yeah, believe it or not, I DO have music other than Instrumental Surf! :>} It's mostly older stuff from my "youth," and I'd like to present some of it here for your listening pleasure.

First up is one of my all time favorite albums, Nektar's Remember The Future. It's basically one long themed song - both Side One and Side Two. When it first came out on CD, I rushed right out and bought it, and Man! Was I disappointed!! Some idiot had mixed the guitar work, which was the foundation of the entire melodic structure, all the way into the background so you could barely hear it. And he mixed the keyboards, which are an important element, but NOT the structural lead instrument, into the foreground, almost up with the vocals. I truly couldn't even stand to listen to it.

Eventually, I saw it available for download elsewhere , and I downloaded it. Much to my surprise, it was PERFECT!! And that is what I am presenting to you here. It's ripped at 192K, but it's still VERY listenable! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Track Listing:

Nektar - Remember The Future

01 - Remember The Future - Part 1
02 - Remember The Future - Part 2
